After completing extensive training and many years of experience in the field of aircraft insurance, Bertil Grimme opened his first company in 1971 under the name of BERTIL GRIMME, Luftfahrtversicherungen. The company was converted into an AG, or public limited company, in 1984.

BGI BERTIL GRIMME AG Insurance Brokers nonetheless remains a family enterprise in which decisions can be made without the encumbrance of lengthy official channels.

Within the context of our brokerage activities, we put together the ideal insurance cover for our clients from the offerings of the current 10 German providers of aviation insurance and—in some cases through GBJ Ltd.—from reputable international insurers.

Although, thanks to our satisfied clients, we have grown steadily since our formation to become one of the leading European aviation insurance brokers, we also emphasise that we have never forgotten that every business partner should receive personal treatment and not be regarded as a mere “number”. We are only satisfied when you are.

Grimme Butcher Jones Limited

Grimme Butcher Jones Ltd. (GBJ) was formed in July 1988 as a joint venture of two leading European aviation insurance brokers, BERTIL GRIMME AG and NORMAN BUTCHER & JONES GROUP LIMITED, which is one of the biggest and oldest-established private Lloyd’s of London brokers. Grimme Butcher Jones Limited, which has been wholly owned by Mr Bertil Grimme since April 2002, is a Lloyd’s accredited broker and, as such, authorised to designate itself “Lloyd’s broker”.

The company was formed with the aim making the most of the advantages arising from the liberalisation of the European market. Since its formation, Grimme Butcher Jones Limited has grown into one of the most significant insurance brokers in the general European aviation segment of the London market, especially with Lloyd’s of London.

The company specialises in serving small and medium-sized airlines and charter carriers as well as aviation in general.

GBJ Ltd. also has other partner branches in Italy and Russia.

Since GBJ Ltd. has its headquarters in London, and therefore in the world’s most important insurance centre, our companies and clients alike profit from the fast processing, favourable premiums and direct contact with leading original insurers and reinsurers the location offers.

What do aircraft and travel have in common? Both stand for a high degree of mobility and flexibility.

BERTIL GRIMME AG has served the travel and accident insurance segment for many years. As we are in a position to offer our clients premiums in some cases well below the market average thanks to our good relations with German insurers and the London market, these insurance classes have grown so rapidly that we needed to maximise our know-how in order to handle the extra business.

That is why, in 2003, we founded BGIB Baltic Group Insurance Brokers GmbH, which has its headquarters in Zug, Switzerland and a branch in Hamburg, Germany.

The firm of GMV Grimme & Münte GmbH Versicherungsmakler (GMV GmbH) has been in existence since 1999, when it was founded to meet the wishes of our clients for an all-round service and to provide not only aviation and travel insurance but all so other classes of insurance product.

We therefore joined up with the reputable Hamburg underwriting agent Dr. Münte & Co. to form GMV Grimme & Münte GmbH Versicherungsmakler, which holds the same service philosophy as the other companies and has since increased our customers’ satisfaction.
